Access Codes
Access codes are the primary way tenants and guests enter the property.

- Name — Who this code is for (e.g., "Anna Kowalska - Tenant")

- End Date — When the code expires (optional)
- Custom Code — Specific digits if supported by your lock (optional)

The code is programmed to the lock within seconds.
Automatic Codes for Leases
When creating or renewing a lease, you can automatically generate an access code:
- The code activates on the lease start date
- The code expires on the lease end date
- Code is named with the tenant's name
- Tenant receives the code via email (optional)
Automatic Codes for Bookings
For STR properties, access codes can be generated automatically:
- Code activates on check-in date/time
- Code expires on check-out date/time
- Guest receives code in their booking confirmation
- Code is deleted after checkout
Automatic access codes for bookings reduce your workload and ensure guests always have valid entry codes.
Code Types
| Type | Description | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Ongoing | No expiration | Long-term tenants, your own access |
| Time-Bound | Active only during specified dates | Leases, bookings, cleaners |
Remote Control
Control locks directly from Rentigo:
Locking/Unlocking
- Navigate to the lock
- Click Unlock or Lock
- Confirmation appears when complete
Remote commands require the lock to be online. Check battery and connectivity if commands fail.
When to Use Remote Control
- Let in a delivery or maintenance worker
- Verify the property is secure
- Emergency lockout assistance for tenants
- Remote check-in for guests who arrive early
Access Logs
View who entered and when:
Log Information
Each entry shows:
- Date and time
- Action (locked/unlocked)
- Method (code, app, manual)
- Who (if code was used)
Viewing Logs
- Navigate to the lock
- Click Access History
- Filter by date range if needed
- Export for records
Access logs are valuable for security and for resolving disputes about property access.
Battery & Status Monitoring
Smart locks run on batteries. Rentigo helps you monitor:
Battery Alerts
- Dashboard warning when battery is below 20%
- Email notification at critical levels
- Battery level shown on lock cards
Online Status
- Online — Lock is connected and responsive
- Offline — Lock is not responding (check WiFi/battery)
Tenant Experience
Tenants with active access codes can:
- Receive their code via email or in their portal
- View code details in their tenant dashboard
- Request new code if forgotten (requires your approval)
Tenants can ask Rigo "What's my door code?" for quick access to their entry information.
Guest Experience (STR)
For short-term guests:
- Access code included in booking confirmation email
- Code visible in guest chat with Rigo
- Code works only during their stay
- Automatically deactivated after checkout
Security Best Practices
- Use Time-Bound Codes — Avoid ongoing codes for short-term access
- Change Codes Between Tenants — Delete old codes when tenants move out
- Monitor Access Logs — Review periodically for unusual activity
- Replace Batteries Proactively — Don't wait for critical levels
- Keep Backup Access — Maintain a physical key for emergencies
- Audit Code List — Regularly review and clean up unused codes
Troubleshooting
